Queens College is one of the few MFA Programs to offer a dedicated Translation track. Our translation students have won such awards as the Fulbright Fellowship, the NEA Fellowship, and the PEN/Heim Translation Grant, as well as numerous book contracts, because they are able to think and work internationally, which seems only fitting given that our program is located in the most diverse place in the world: the borough of Queens, where more languages are spoken than any other place on the planet.

Teaching opportunities
Second-year students have the opportunity to compete for teaching positions within the English Department. The number of courses available for MFA students each year varies, however our MFA students have taught undergraduate creative writing, literature and compositionclasses.
Editorial opportunities
Armstrong Literary is the name of our program’s international literary journal. MFA students comprise the masthead and operate the journal with little to no oversight from the faculty, which has led our students to develop skills that they have gone on to use in the employ of such journals as Hanging Loose, Words Without Borders,Hawai’i Review, The Shanghai Literary Review, and Elastic Magazine, among others.
